Says He Can’t Figure Out How The Commissioners Will Spend The Money

Hamilton County Treasurer, Robert Goering, who endorsed Mark Mallory for Mayor, is endorsing No on 27.

In explaining his opposition to Issue 27 he stated, “The Commissioners want to have lots of extra funds to spend on who knows what...I can’t figure it out, and I don’t think voters can either.”

This is significant as Mr. Goering has been the Treasurer for more than 16 years, is a recognized expert on County finances, has been relatively quiet on tax issues in the past, and yet is so strongly opposed to Issue 27 that he is willing to take on powerful leaders in his own party.  No Jail Tax PAC believes that this announcement will carry weight with the voters.

The Hamilton Country Treasurer is saying what No Jail Tax PAC has been saying — that this tax does not guarantee funds for treatment or other social services.
