CincyTechUSA Changes Rules to Keep Out The Beacon?

The real influential Cincinnati blogs.

After a secret nomination process where no one knows how many votes were actually cast, CincyTechUSA announced the region’s top ten blogs, and your humble Cincinnati Beacon did not make the list.  Now, while some of you may be laughing that we have lost our influence and popularity—perhaps trying to say we have turned into right-winged Republicans because we don’t believe in spending a billion dollars on a jail— a closer inspection shows that the judges may have invented rules as they went along to stop the real contenders from getting additional publicity.

In this Enquirer article, the “reasoning” behind the judges decision was explained:

Judges favored blogs created by a single author over blogs written or produced by a collaboration or an organization, said Bob Coy, president of CincyTechUSA, in a release announcing the winners. Because the nomination process was hosted and promoted by Cincinnati.Com, bloggers who are employed by Cincinnati.com, The Cincinnati Enquirer, CiN Weekly and the Cincinnati Post could not be considered.

No such rules were discussed in the directions for nominating blogs and bloggers.  Besides The Beacon and the CityBeat collection of blogs, who else falls into that category?

Here are the REAL top blogs in Cincinnati—listed in no particular order other than how they came out of my fingertips.

1.  The Cincinnati Beacon

2.  CityBeat’s Porkopolis

3.

4.

There are other hardworking and quality blogs, obviously, but these are the most politically significant anyway.  None of them made the list, sponsored by a group that is, in part, threatened by the existence of such independent voices.
