Writely Beta Now Accepting Free Accounts

OK.  Not the typical Cincinnati Beacon fare.  But if you like Google, and if you know about Writely, you may be pleased to discover that the Writely Beta is now accepting free sign-ups.  For those who don’t know, Writely is an online word processor that allows users to store documents online.  This is another great move in the effort to make all Microsoft Office products pointless.

If you don’t already know, Google has another really useful beta called .  For those without Microsoft Office, this Google interface will easily import and display any spreadsheet file.

And if you don’t already know about Google’s G-Mail—well, you must be living in a hole.  I won’t even link to it for you!

So that’s most of the Office compatibility, free and online.  If Google just comes up with a Presentation feature to replace PowerPoint—well, that would be a fine thing, indeed!

For some, the idea of storing everything online may seem unreliable.  What happens if the internet connection goes down?

Well, what is also really handy is having everything accessible, online, without worrying about storage devices.  In my experience, those break more often that access is interrupted.

Some may ask about those without access to the internet.  Well, , too.
