Roxanne Qualls, Not Joan Kaup, to Replace Jim Tarbell

Contrary to , Joan Kaup will not be Jim Tarbell’s replacement on City Council. It will be Roxanne Qualls! I think this is delightful news, particularly because I think Joan Kaup is an egocentric elitist unfit for serving public office, specifically given her disrespectful treatment of The Cincinnati Beacon when all we wanted to do was give her a free platform.
I know plenty of people will have things to say about Roxanne Qualls. There will be plenty of time to explore those criticisms later. But Qualls is not a political wannabe like Melanie Bates using a family tragedy to promote a political agenda of fear (an agenda that, we might remember, is only one of convenience—don’t forget how she ditched Charlie Winburn because someone questioned her alliance with a Republican), and Qualls is not a rude elitist like Joan Kaup who refuses to talk to people.
